Importance of Repentance
Repentance is an ongoing back and forth exchange with God. It’s seeking God’s truth, learning from Him, then turning from your way of doing something to His way. It’s the path to abundant life for His ways are wisdom, life, truth, peace, and joy. It’s God’s desire to give us an abundant life, but we have to follow His instruction. So basic yet many don’t follow.
To follow His instruction you first have to be spending time each day learning from Him by the Holy Spirit through the Bible. Then listening to His promptings and instructions in the details of your life. We each have different lives and circumstances, so we have to seek His counsel for the lives He desires us to lead. His ways are not our ways. Repentance is following God in the details of our lives … and those details add up to becoming a new creation and living a blessed life.

Hi Rachel, isn’t it amazing, the fact that we cannot be perfect, but with sincere repentance “when we know we are wrong” God calls us blameless!

Hi Eldon – true abundant life comes as we learn the interwoven nature of grace and repentance.

I was so blessed and encouraged by this, Rachel. “Repentance is following God in the details of our lives.” I have never heard it described that way and so it opens up my eyes to see better how He works and the repentance going on. The other day there were situations gong on here. My natural tendency would’ve been to tough it out, get through it the best I can . . .because its really not my problem, not my responsibility, the way others behave. But I prayed for God to show me how to help in this instance. He said to be humble. So I met each situation in a humble way and they dissolved into non-issues. 🙂 A repentance of doing things my way and following Him in the details. God bless you, Rachel!

Hi Debbie – most dismiss the details, which can lead up to the very deliverance and freedom they seek. How important to heed God’s counsel in all things, so that we can walk in faith in Him in all things. 🙂

Hi Tom – how important this repentance is … and how can you truly turn unless you are listening, truly listening to God’s voice above all the others? Truly His are the words of life.

Hi – not sure what lordship salvation means? I agree … repentance is turning from our ways to God’s, thus we have to be diligently seeking truth, God’s ways, to walk in them and turning from ours as we learn.
