Hebrews 4:10-11 For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His. Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience.
In this video, I discuss a very important truth of entering into God’s rest.
My passion is cultivating a deep relationship with God and helping others to do the same. I LOVE sharing with others insights that God has taught me and hearing what God has taught them... thus my blog, Stirring the Deep. My focus is on a relationship, not a religion. Life is in the relationship.
I believe in a balance and unity of body, mind and spirit. I feel it's important to nurture all three for they all affect each other. I try to live in the present, where the Holy Spirit is. And I try to do all with the motive of love. I've come to believe life is a journey and not a destination. It isn't about perfection, is it about growth.
God had me on this same promise today. Isaiah not only prophesied Jesus but His glorious rest! A different scripture reference but the same promise of Him and the glorious rest we receive in Him. Thank you and blessings to you!
Hi Tom — as I’m learning the realness of this rest. It is within us as peace rules our hearts and outward as God goes before us making our paths smooth and removing our enemies … it is amazing how powerful resting which is trusting in God truly can be. It’s obeying His leading so that often you are acting counter to the world’s ways .. it is a tremendous gift God has given us in Christ’s Spirit taking over our flesh to govern our lives His ways … for He brings them into abundance.
So glad I found the post today. Thank you for speaking on something I’ve only heard one other person in my life speak on thus far, I’ve been in the church for some time and read avidly. Many people do not believe that unbelief will keep you out of God’s rest, and they don’t believe there is a rest that you have from God while your doing His work. For a believer I believe this is part of the key to longevity to the Spirit-filled life, just like sleep is key to our physical bodies so we can work naturally, we need His rest for the life of christ in us.
Hi Klarion – I’m glad you did as well .. and thanks for your comment. True faith in God’s promises that leads to rest is a powerful force in our lives and so much more so in the end as Christ’s spirit fills His temple … with His faith there are no bounds. In general church & religion put boundaries around God … they tell you who He is and what He desires of you .. But God wants us to come to Him one-on-one and learn directly. How this message has been pushed aside in our world of institutions governed by mankind’s doctrine and not God’s. But the time is upon us for those lost in the lies to be freed and brought into the truth – the mercy of God is going to amaze many.
So what is the difference between this rest and doing nothing to change your situation? For instance, if I desire a new job, should I not send out my resume or look for a job?
Hi Dedra, in rest you are fully trusting the True God. It’s following His voice wherever He leads and He leads you perfectly. Yes you do things .. but you are lead by God’s spirit and trust in His power working through you and not yourself.
