Mentoring

Mentoring for the Spirit Life

 • Would you like to develop intimacy with God?

• Take your relationship with God to a deeper level?

• Have God’s promises active in your life?

These questions reflected some of my desires, but I had no idea how to get there not to mention the many fears and other distractions blocking me from moving forward toward obtaining them.  Until about 10 years ago . . . when God pulled me out of the swamp I was dwelling in (that I didn’t fully realize) and started me on an upward path to an intimate relationship with Him.  The journey has been surprising, challenging, vast, powerful, liberating, and unlike anything I expected or knew before. From my experiences, a passion formed to help others to cultivate this deep, real, and intimate relationship with God – the one I came to know and am continuing to grow into.

Our relationship with God is the foundation of our lives; all else is derivative of it. If it is lacking, we are lacking. If it is flourishing, we are flourishing.

John 10:10b I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

The true abundance, internal and external as God has ordained for each one of us, comes out of our relationship with Him. The sacrifice of Christ opened the door to this personal connection with our Creator, but it’s only the beginning. There is much, much more.

I offer my time to walk along side those who desire to deepen their relationship with God and are ready to take action to move forward. It isn’t about going to church, involved in more programs or ministries, or being a better person. It’s stealing away into a quiet place where you meet God, one-on-one.  It’s spending time nourishing and developing a real relationship with Him. It’s getting to know God as He truly is,  abiding under the shadow of His wing, and altering your existence as you grow into a new creation in Him.

I freely give of my time and from you it requires:

  1. A commitment of seven weeks to establish a habit of spending quality time with God
  2. A commitment each day to spend time with God
  3. Accountability and encouragement calls from me throughout the week for seven weeks
  4. Brief lessons each week on developing your relationship with God

If you desire to draw near to God in this way, to move into the life He created you for, to commit time to your relationship with Him, and to have someone help, guide, and encourage you, let me know.

Testimonials

“Rachel’s mentoring program helped me because it gave me someone to be accountable to when it came to having a quiet time with God. It also helped me become more disciplined in setting aside a specific time everyday to have my quiet time instead of “squeezing” it into my schedule like I use to. It also helped me develop a totally different approach to the time I spend with God because during the mentorship, Rachel has a different ‘lesson’ each week which helps you understand ‘how’ and ‘why’ we are to cultivate a relationship with the Holy Spirit. Rachel is very passionate about helping others grow in this relationship and it is evident every time you speak with her. Rachel has been such a blessing!” -Katie

“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” James 4:8 God’s promise became real to me as I began seeking Him in daily quiet time with the expectation of His Spirit teaching me and revealing to me who He is and what He has prepared for His own. Words are not sufficient to express God’s faithfulness during these daily times of seeking eternal treasures. Bible reading as a theological exercise or obligation cannot compare to the awe of drawing near to God through His Word with a desire to intimately know the One whose love is pure. What God gives to those who earnestly seek Him and have a love of the Truth is mind-boggling! Rachel’s mentoring provided the encouragement that I needed to overcome discouragement and the common distractions that frequently prevent a daily quiet time with God. Her sincere desire to support and encourage daily quiet time seeking and meeting God in His Word is the fruit of her doing the same for a number of years. – Cleo

“For me to find that peace in Christ, is something I wanted all my life. I guess I can thank you Rachel for directing my path and to point out that relationship is more important than any man made traditional formula to follow. It was there all along, I just needed to stop everything else and just be still to hear Him.” – Mary

Before starting the mentoring program, the faith I had was a veritable wasteland, at best. I believed in God, Jesus, and what He did, of course, but there was not much more of a relationship I could speak of it. I happened upon Rachel’s blog and mentoring program, and I have not been disappointed. I have learned what it means to spend time with God, and to actually get to know Him, and to seek His face. Rachel has been an amazing teacher, and incredibly patient with me. I cannot thank her enough for the time she has taken out of her week to help me cultivate a better and stronger relationship with God. – Taja

  1. Hi Rachel,

I’ve been to your website often just to read and reflect on what is being said. I do enjoy the site. For the last 9 months, my father has been sick with lung cancer. During my time with him and getting caught up in the day to day things he needed, I have not been spending time studying or in prayer like I used to. As a result, I feel so far from God right now even though I know he is right here with me. My greatest desire is to feel his presence each and everyday and know him more intimately. I long for him and I am thirsty for things of God. I’ve been this way a long time and he does know the desires of my heart. Putting this into action has been a problem. I pray and study but not to the extent that I need to. I know that I am special and that He has great things in store for me and I need to find them. My dad passed away July 22nd, and God was speaking to me just this morning saying “There is no better place for Dad to be, than with Him”. I believe this and have peace about it even though I’m missing him terribly. If I had to do it over again, I would still let him go because this world has become something that I despise. I need to learn how to stop walking in the flesh so much and trust God more. Sometimes, its so bad that I can’t stand myself even though I know the promises of God. I know I’m rambling but I sure would like to hear your thoughts on what I’ve said. God Bless You today, real good.
