Hi Glenn – yes … it means daily engaging God in a very personal conversation, listening to what He has to say to you, seeking His instruction about Him and His instruction in all things, seeking/listening Him to teach you through the Bible, your circumstances and life, and His creation … it is seeking THE truth in all things from Him.
So blessed . . .thank you, Rachel! I got to listen again! What you teach always confirms what He has me doing. One thing that I’ve found, that might encourage someone starting out, is that spending that time with God . . .it becomes addictive. It won’t be so hard after awhile. You will HAVE to do it. As naturally as any other part of your morning routine. And I do better with mornings too, even though I’m not a morning person. That way He gives me something to think about, to take with me all throughout the day, and I like that.
God bless you as you help us stir the deep!
Hi Debbie – thanks for that encouragement and it is very true … at first it can be hard because we are so wrapped up in our own worlds and in deception about who God is and who we are … but as we persist … there is no bettter time – it is renewing, energizing, enriching, and the list goes on. Jesus spent hours alone with God in the quiet … talking and listening – may we follow His example.
Thank you, it might seem strange to you
but I had never thought about it in that context,
I had always thought of seeking the kingdom, as more of
an outward action, like- the fields are white to harvest.
Or, do unto others, as you would have them do unto you.
I had been asking the Lord for his thoughts on this subject, so
I like your interpretation. It kind of centers the kingdom,
back on the King, rather than the Subjects.
Kind of like someone threw water in my eyes,
and said, now See! It lit a candle inside of me.
Hi Glenn — Luke 17:21 “nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.” … most think of it as an outward thing, I use to … but it is God’s Spirit in us that changes in and out. It definitely affects our surroundings and others around us because it’s within us.
LORD, MAKE ME A WILLING BRICK
A REFLECTION
God wants to build his church with willing bricks. He wants to fashion each brick to fit in to the building—each living stone cemented in His Love, in His Unity—so the dark world will see the Glory of His light in and through us- Each living brick conformed to his image.
Are we willing to be molded, shaped and refined by His Word? His Spirit? Will we let Jesus- (the Author and Finisher of our faith) bring us in to conformity to Himself, so that He can use us and our lives in His service? Will we permit Him to continue to bring us in to that completion He has planned for our lives?
God desires unity of heart and faith—that we be in one accord—not in division, envy, strife and jealousy.
Jesus desires willing bricks to build His church. Will we let Him shape our lives to His will and purposes?
HE HAS THE PLAN
HE HAS COUNTED THE COST
HE HAS PAID THE PRICE…TO PURCHASE US.
Where we don’t yet fit, let Him smooth the corners, polish the stones—until they reflect His Glory—as the whole creation waits for the Sons of God to come in to their own.
Today’s Prayer- LORD, MAKE ME A WILLING AND USABLE BRICK.
Hi Martin – It really is all of God’s work in us … may we lay down our self-will that governs our lives and come completely under His governance in every way and area.
Thanks for the time and effort that you put into these videos Rachel.
Hearing you recommend a Bible with a margin of notes made me appreciate the memory of seeing hand-written notes on the pages of the Bible I have used for the last 10 years or so. It is always interesting to see what I wrote and then remember the life context–a joy or sorrow–that was the reality then.
Hi Slamdunk – I really appreciate you sharing this. I think this is an important part – it helps us to more deeply engage the instruction of the Holy Spirit.
Rachel, are you saying that,
‘seeking the kingdom’ means
“spending time with the Lord”?
Thanks, Glenn
